Cruzeiro Go Third

By: AJ | July 19th, 2007

Cruzeiro beat, as expected, Náutico yesterday night and take hold of third place for the next 24 hours. Cruzeiro were down a goal in the first minute, but showed a fighting spirit as they turned the match around.

Left-right: Guilherme, Araujo, Roni, Wagner. The Fab Four, Offensive Quartet or Fantastic Quartet, call em’ what you like.

The defense weakened again, but the attack showed itself one more time. Cruzeiro are now free of the status of “Worst Defense”, which now belongs to Náutico. Cruzeiro move to second worst defense. But the attack is great, the best in Brazil for the time being. The goals came from Roni (his sixth of the campaign) 12th, Wagner 57th, Araújo, 73rd and Domingues 85th minute. Notice that three of the goals came from the Fab Four. Náutico scored in the 1st minute through Tales. Wagner, who had a mediocre game, but scored a goal, was sent off for having two yellows and will miss the game against São Paulo. The other big news from the game is that after 43 games without repeating a starting 11, DJ finally did it, a streak that began way before DJ took charge, by the way. I feel that eventually we would have to get that weight off our shoulders and I’m glad we finally repeated the starting eleven from the previous game. At the end of the day it was a good result, but Cruzeiro will need to produce the same results in the next three games if they wish to have a chance at the championship.

Update on Transfers: Cruzeiro’s Vice-President of Football, Zezé Perralla, has declared in an interview that the club must sell their young defender Luizão and are looking to buy Uruguay’s defender, Scotti, 31, (who converted a penalty against Brazil in the semifinals of the Copa this summer). The only thing stopping the move at the moment is that the Uruguayan veteran is looking for a three year deal, but Cruzeiro only wants to give him a deal for 1 year and 8 months. This by the way would be the first non-Brazilian in Cruzeiro’s current roster. Araújo is, according to some pundits and bloggers, leaving the club in August. Hopefully they are wrong :( . Oh yea, something I found sort of funny, is that in the interview Cruzeiro’s Vice-President of Football, Zezé Perrella, had something to say about Guilherme, the 18 year old Cruzeiro star. He said that Cruzeiro have no intentions of selling Guilherme at the moment, and the only way he would leave now is for a €30 million deal, which wold make him the highest priced player in Brazil at the moment, higher than Pato! To me this is totally bull*. Guilherme €30 million? €5 million maybe, but 30? WHAT? Though I must agree with Zezé on one thing. And that is the fact that he has clearly stated Guilherme’s not for sale at the moment, and if high rollers like Milan and Real want to be arrogant they can pay us €30 million for him and if you don’t want to pay that much, than ya won’t get him. Simple as that. So yea a sort of agree with Zezé.

I’ll tell you 1 thing! GHILHERME IS INDEED WORTH 30 MILLION EURO. Did you know the British paid 20 million for fuckn’ Emerson? Emerson who is 30 years old and absolutely nothing special. Guilherme is 18 years old and has led Cruzeiro since the juniors devision. I remember reading about this kid ever since he was 16. He was always a leading scorer. Zeze however is the very symbol o Cruzeiro… a sly fox! This motherfuckr knows exactly what he is doing. He will sell him for at least 20 million euro, make sure the agent pockets 5, and kicks him back a cool million. Thats how he does it..but don’t say I said it. Later :)

One more thing… if a miserable ATLETICANO (like this person above) who hasnt won any national or regional (god forbid, international) title in the last 35 years… likes your blog, it must be good. These species are among the most suffering human beings in Brazil. Can you imagine rooting for a team who never wins? Crazy!
